Job Summary: Reporting to the Dispatcher, the Journeyman Picker Operator/Driver is responsible for the operation of the hoist and swing machinery used to move machinery, material, and other objects. This role is responsible for utilizing safe work practices and procedures to deliver and move oilfield tools and equipment.
Key Responsibility Areas:
· Measuring loads for height, weight, width, length and overhang to ensure compliance with yearly permits and acquire further permits if necessary.
· Ensure you know the lifting capabilities of the picker you are using, making sure to never exceed these.
· Responsible for reporting all incidents, injuries, and unsafe work procedures or conditions to the Dispatcher.
· Responsible for knowing and complying with all OH&S and NSC regulations regarding this job, ensuring all procedures are followed safely and hazards are pointed out to Dispatcher.
· Ensure all equipment used for jobs is in good condition, kept clean after all jobs, and neatly stored in an appropriate place.
· Must ensure all required safety equipment and paperwork for units are in the unit prior to doing a job.
· Wear proper PPE on job sites and ensure Swampers under your direction are in compliance.
· Chain up of truck as conditions apply.
· Maintain all slings and lifting cables.
· Ensure all crane log books and drivers log books are completed and up to date at all times and all required paper work is turned in when returning to home base.
· Attend safety meetings and join committees if required.
· Report all unsafe work conditions or procedures to Dispatcher.
· Ensure outriggers are extended before any lifting takes place when using picker and loads are kept as low as possible.
· Responsible for the use of tag lines and preventing anyone from crossing or standing under a load.
· Dictate one person to be your signalman and only follow their directions.
· Responsible for the supervision of Swampers.
· Any other duties as required by Dispatcher.

· Basic mechanical knowledge of trucks and trailers.
Education and Experience: a) Formal Education:
· Completion of grade 10 or higher.
· Completion of Alberta or Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Heavy Boom truck operator program
b) Designation/Certification Required:
· CSTS
· TDG/WHIMIS
· H2S
· First Aid
· OSSA
· Load Securement
· Valid Canadian Class 1 CDL
· Hours of service/log book training
c) Experience:
· Minimum 3 years’ experience as a class1 driver
· Minimum 1 year Journeyman experience with heavy boom truck/Mobile
· Journeyman heavy boom truck/Mobile crane experience considered an asset.
