Summary of Position Under the direction of our Chief Financial Officer, the Accountant will be responsible for financial administration and maintenance of accurate records, as well as analysis and improvement of existing accounting procedures.
Key Responsibilities
· Invoicing — Timely preparation and distribution of customer invoices in cooperation with our Project Support Office
· Accounts Receivable — Preparation/posting of daily deposits and collecting overdue accounts while maintaining client relationships and creating win-win situations
· Accounts Payable — Entry into accounting system, processing of approved cheque runs, and liaison with vendors
· Month/Year End — Review and reconciliation of general ledger, reconciliation of corporate Visas, and processing of monthly and annual adjusting entries
· Reporting — Preparation of ad hoc financial reporting, upon request
· Administration — Maintenance and administration of financial leases including RBC, Dell, and National Leasing Group providers
· Taxes and Regulatory Remittances — Computing, reporting, and filing of GST and PST, as required by regulatory bodies; assisting with compilation of SR&ED tax credit supporting documentation
· Relationships — Tactful and confidential communication with both internal and
external customers
Required Qualifications
· Post-secondary degree (H. B. Com./B.A.)
· A minimum of Level 4 achieved in the CGA program
· Two or more years experience working in a similar accounting role
· Proven organizational skills that allow you to prioritize tasks effectively, manage your time efficiently, multitask, and meet multiple and/or conflicting deadlines
· Established problem solving skills and the ability to reason
· Strong data entry skills, with the proven ability to accurately input and process detailed data
· Excellent English verbal and written communication skills, including experience communicating with management and executives
· Proven success working proactively, both independently and as part of a team
· In-depth understanding of end-to-end accounting systems and processes
· Proven experience manipulating large amounts of data and the capability to provide detailed analysis
· Demonstrated skills to work effectively under pressure and within tight deadlines in a dynamic environment
· High level of motivation/self initiative to achieve superior results
Qualifications Considered an Asset
· Demonstrated experience using Simply Accounting, Beanstream online electronic payment processing, RBC Express online banking software, Surround SCM Client, and Numara Footprints
· Experience in a professional services or project based accounting environment
