Description

Reporting to the Regional Quality Partner, Central Canada (RQP), the Regional Quality Advisor, Central Canada (RQA), is responsible for assisting the RQP in executing most responsibilities of that role, dealing with lower risk matters and, subject to RQP review and approval, higher risk matters including those requiring consultation with an RQP. The primary focus is on the application of professional standards and Firm policies within the Central Canada region; a by-product may be advice on the design of professional standards and Firm policies.

The key responsibilities for this role encompass all professional services in the Central Canada region, including:·      
 Responsible for communicating to the RQP incidents observed indicative of concerns on professional services quality or risk management throughout the region at the individual, business unit and regional levels, including: 
Leadership,
Independence and other professional ethic 
Client and engagement acceptance and continuance/re-acceptance
HR, including professional development
Engagement performance

Documentation·
Responsible for monitoring Assurance Service Line Leader approvals of client and engagement acceptance and continuance/re-acceptance in the region, focusing on lower risk engagements ·       
Responsible for initial review and recommendation to RQP of client and engagement acceptance and continuance/re-acceptance in the region in respect to higher risk engagements. This review will include consideration of: 
Concentration of target sector and public company expertise
Designation & assignment of concurring reviewers 
Specialist involvement in audit engagements ·       
Responsible for initial review and challenge of the Engagement Profile Factor (EPF) for each audit and review engagement·       
Responsible for overseeing the monitoring of compliance with the Firm’s engagement file archiving policies·       
Assist the RQP with the support to our professionals and engagement teams as they strive to improve engagement performance and deal with difficult, contentious and risk matters·       
Responsible for providing timely, practical, solutions-oriented, and objective advice on the application of professional standards and Firm policies when lower risk professional services matters are encountered in their region, particularly as they relate to: 
Firm policies impacting professional services quality and risk management, and 
Accounting and auditing standards.       
Responsible for delivery of technical training and professional development of partners and professional staff in the region as directed by the RQP (in collaboration with business unit assurance leader)       
Responsible for participating in appropriate professional groups, dealing with and speaking out where appropriate on accounting and auditing

The skills and attributes required for this position include:·       
CA designation       
5+ years of experience in the audit and accounting field       
Demonstrated experience in audit, business development and management      
Strong commitment to professional and client service excellence      
Ability to work independently and as part of a team      
A team player able to rally resources and work with others to meet the needs of the client       
Strong interest in coaching and development, with a commitment to personal growth  
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
